The Problem
The current process of assigning routes and shifts to field operations teams was very cumbersome and unreliable. Our goal was to streamline the scheduling process and to reduce the amount of time district managers spent scheduling, while also reducing errors.
Research insights
After conducting end user and stakeholder interviews, user personas were created. I did some competitive research then began my sketches. I then presented initial wireframe concepts for stakeholder approval. I worked with development teams to make sure the path forward was clear and to field any design questions or concerns they had. After validating usability, I developed a high‑fidelity prototypes and met with C-Suite Stakeholders and Product Managers to ensure all the proper requirements were met.
Our redesigned route builder and scheduler will reduce the amount of time spent assigning employees and service interuption when service is not delivered by about 20%. This not only saves time and money for the organization, but also drives client satisfaction with more reliable, on time service.
